5 St. Patty's Day Drink Recipes

The day for wearing green and chasing pots of gold is upon us! That means toasting friends with delicious St. Patty's Day drinks. If you're hosting a St. Patrick's Day party, get the fun going with some of these themed drinks.

    Emerald Rain Drink
Most St. Patty's Day drink recipes feature green beverages, and this one is no different. If you enjoy citrusy and fruity flavored drinks, this one's for you.

In an iced cocktail shaker, shake together 2 ounces Hpnotiq, 1 ounce vodka, 1/2 ounce orange juice, and 1/4 of a freshly squeezed lime. Strain into a chilled glass. You can cut some of the alcohol by substituting the vodka for club soda.

    Irish Coffee
If you need a pick-me-up before heading to a St. Patty's Day party, mix up a classic Irish coffee. Simply pour 1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey into a mug. If you're using a glass mug, place a metal spoon into the mug before adding 6 ounces of hot, strong coffee. The metal in the spoon will absorb some of the coffee's heat, helping to prevent the glass from cracking. If you prefer a sweeter coffee, mix in some sugar before topping with whipped cream. Garnish with green sprinkles for luck.

    Emerald Isle
St. Patty's Day drink recipes usually center on liquor-based drinks, but we've got the wine lovers covered with this Emerald Isle cocktail!

Make a simple syrup by mixing equal parts hot water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. You'll need 3/4 ounce of simple syrup for this cocktail.

In a cocktail shaker, muddle 4 thick cucumber slices and 5 mint leaves. Fill the shaker with ice, add 3/4 ounce lime juice, 3/4 ounce simple syrup, and 2 ounces of your favorite Pinot Grigio. Shake vigorously, then strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with mint and a cucumber slice.

    Spicy BLT Green Bloody Mary
If you're in the market for a spicy, and we mean spicy, Bloody Mary, then this green-hued version is perfect for your St. Patrick's Day celebration.

For a recipe that serves four, start by blending 4 cups of green tomatoes, 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons of parsley, 1/2 cup of cucumber chunks, juice from 2 limes, 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, and one quartered jalapeño. Blend until very smooth.

Next, stir in 8 ounces of vodka and 2 teaspoons horseradish. Season to taste with kosher salt. Pour over ice into four glasses. Garnish with Romaine lettuce leaves, crisp bacon strips, cherry tomatoes, and lemon wedges.

    Ginger & Mint Lime Float
Not all St. Patty's Day drink recipes have to be alcoholic! This non-alcoholic Ginger & Mint Lime Float is refreshingly delicious and will keep any designated drivers happy.

Begin with the ginger syrup. In a blender, combine 1 cup of water with one 2 1/2 inch piece of peeled and sliced ginger root. Blend until nicely pureed. Pour into a small saucepan and stir in 3/4 cup of sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the syrup thickens slightly. Allow to cool completely. This makes enough syrup for four servings.

To assemble the floats, add about 1/4 cup of the ginger syrup into a glass. Squeeze in the juice of two lime wedges and drop the wedges into the glass. Add a spring of mint that has been julienned. Muddle the mixture. Fill the glass about 3/4 full with club soda, then add one or two scoops of lime sherbet. Garnish with a spring of mint.
