5 Winter Cocktails to Sip This Season

When it's chilly out, head indoors to sip a delicious winter cocktail. While there are many cocktails perfect for cooler weather, here at Isle of Capri Casino® Lake Charles we picked out our top five for this season.

    Good Tidings
This pretty pink drink tastes like winter thanks to cranberry and allspice notes. Shake together 1.5 ounces vodka, 1 ounce Cointreau, 1 ounce lemon juice, 1 ounce cranberry juice, and 1 bar spoon of allspice dram. Strain into a Collins glass over ice and top with soda water. You can garnish with a slice of lemon pierced with cloves.

On the other hand, bring summer back early with Otis & Henry's® White Linen cocktail. We use Hendrick's Gin, St. Germain, fresh lime juice, and a cucumber garnish.

    Toby's Toddy
Look no further than the cozy Toby's Toddy. Add 3 ounces boiling water to a mug. Mix in 1 ounce of each: cognac, aged rum, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Top with 5 dashes of bitters, then garnish with a cinnamon stick and clove studded lemon slice.

If you need your margarita fix, try this cocktail made with two different tequilas and an egg white. Shake together, without ice, 1 ounce of each: reposado tequila, mezcal, lime juice, 3/4 ounce simple syrup and 1 egg white. Then shake the ingredients with ice. Strain into a salt rimmed coupe glass.

Stop by Otis & Henry's to try our take on the margarita… the Julius Margarita. We shake top shelf Don Julio™ Blanco, Patrón Citrónge, Grand Marnier, and fresh lime juice for a refreshing, smooth cocktail.

    Dark as Night
The slightly spicy Dark as Night not only makes staying inside more fun, but it's simple to make and looks impressive. Mix 1 part Cruzan® Black Strap Rum, 1/4 part falernum syrup, and 1/2 part lime juice. Pour 6 parts of cider into a glass, then slowly float the mixed ingredients on top. Garnish with grated nutmeg and an orange peel.

    Bailey’s™ Cinnamon and Spice
Need a pick-me-up cocktail? Try the Baileys Cinnamon and Spice, a spiked coffee drink. Mix 1 ounce Bailey’s Original Irish Cream Liqueur, 3/4 ounce Irish whiskey, and 4.5 ounces freshly brewed coffee into a mug. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle cinnamon and cayenne pepper on top. Heck, the garnishes will make even an ordinary cup of morning coffee delicious!

We serve a similar drink at Otis & Henry's, the Mocha Express. It's a delicious mix of Absolut® Vanilla, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua and espresso. It's sure to warm you up!

Come try one of our Happy Hour specials at Otis & Henry’s as well! Happy Hour starts at 5pm on Sundays and Tuesday - Thursdays. See our hours online.
